Write phone numbers the right way (+44)
Type phone numbers with the country code (+44…) so calls, texts, WhatsApp and duplicate checks all work.
The steps at a glance
Step 1 of 3
Type a plus sign and the country code first: +44 for the UK, +94 Sri Lanka, +91 India.
UK mobiles start 07…. With +44, leave out that 0: 07700 900123 becomes +44 7700 900123.
Spaces and dashes don't matter. For Twilio boxes, type it with no spaces: +447700900123.
What the code looks like
Find it: The customerPaste it: Phone boxes on leads, forms, Twilio and WhatsApp settings
Not this: +44 07700 900123 — keep the 0 out when you add +44.
✅ How do I know it worked?
- The WhatsApp and Call buttons on the lead open the right person.
⚠️ Common mistakes
ProblemExcel removed the first 0 when you imported.FixFormat the phone column as Text, or use +44 numbers in the sheet.
ProblemA Sri Lankan number typed as 077…FixUse +94 77… so WhatsApp and texts go to Sri Lanka.
