Connect any other mailbox (IMAP/SMTP and app passwords)
Connect iCloud, Yahoo, Zoho or your company's own email with an app password or server details.
Before you start
- Your email address and its password — or an app password for iCloud, Yahoo and Zoho.
- For company email: the IMAP and SMTP server names from whoever runs it.
The steps at a glance
Step 1 of 5
In the menu on the left, tap Mail. On a phone, tap the ☰ menu button at the top first.
Tap Add mailbox. Type your Email address and Name people see, then Continue.
For iCloud, Yahoo and Zoho we show How to get an app password with the exact steps. Make one and paste it into App password.
If we can't find your provider, fill in Receiving (IMAP) and Sending (SMTP): server, port and security. Tap Where to find your password and server for help.
Tap Test and connect. We sign in both ways — no email is sent.
What the code looks like
Find it: Your email provider's help page, or your IT personPaste it: Mail → Add mailbox → Receiving (IMAP) / Sending (SMTP)
Not this: pop.yourprovider.com : 995 — that's POP3. We need IMAP so replies are matched to the right person.
✅ How do I know it worked?
- The mailbox shows under Mailboxes and Test passes.
⚠️ Common mistakes
Problem“The email server rejected the username or password.”FixiCloud, Yahoo and Zoho need an app password, not your normal password.
ProblemPort 587 with SSL/TLS.Fix587 uses STARTTLS; 465 uses SSL/TLS. Match the pair.
